Universitas Sugeng Hartono Conducts On-Site Accreditation Assessment for Informatics Program

As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing academic quality, Universitas Sugeng Hartono conducted another on-site accreditation assessment. This time, the focus was on the Informatics Undergraduate Program, which underwent evaluation by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Informatics and Computing (LAM-INFOKOM).

Held over three days—from Monday to Wednesday, November 27–29, 2024—the assessment took place directly at the Universitas Sugeng Hartono campus in Sukoharjo Regency, allowing evaluators to comprehensively review the program’s performance and development.

The Rector of Universitas Sugeng Hartono, Assoc. Prof. Jacob F. N. Dethan, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., officially opened the event by expressing his appreciation to the assessment team and all parties involved.
In his remarks, he emphasized that this accreditation process serves as a strategic step for the university to evaluate how well the Informatics Undergraduate Program meets the evolving demands of the technology-driven world.

Ms. Nimas Ratna Sari, M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Law, and Business, actively supported the assessment process.

During her presentation, she highlighted the significant progress made by the Informatics Undergraduate Program in recent years, particularly in curriculum development, student enrollment, and collaborations with industry partners.

“We continuously strengthen this program by integrating the latest technologies into the learning process and enhancing research collaborations. Our goal is to produce graduates who are not only competent but also adaptable to the evolving demands of the digital era,” she said.

Dwi Utari Iswavigra, S.T., M.Kom., who leads the Informatics Undergraduate Program, emphasized that the program equips students with practical skills in key areas of information technology, such as artificial intelligence, software development, big data, and cybersecurity.

“We designed our curriculum based on competencies and applied a project-based learning approach so students can actively solve real-world challenges in the tech industry,” she said.

The field assessment was conducted by two seasoned assessors:

  1. Dr. Ir. Djoko Soetarno, DEA from Bina Nusantara University, an expert in information systems and software development. He has been extensively involved in the accreditation of informatics study programs at various universities across Indonesia.
  2. Dr. Ir. Putu Sugiartawan, S.Kom., M.Cs., M.Agb., IPM from the Indonesian Institute of Business and Technology, who possesses expertise in information technology, management, and digital agribusiness.

Assessor Evaluation of Various Aspects

During the visit, the two assessors conducted a comprehensive evaluation covering key aspects such as program governance, curriculum design, infrastructure and facilities, faculty qualifications, and the achievement of student learning outcomes.

Over the course of three days, the assessment team carried out a series of activities, including:

  • Document Evaluation: Reviewing the self-evaluation report, which includes the program’s performance achievements.
  • Facility Observation: The assessors inspected the informatics laboratory, server room, and other learning facilities, including the technology innovation room that serves as a hub for students’ creative idea development.
  • Stakeholder Interviews: The assessors engaged in discussions with faculty members, administrative staff, students, and alumni to gain a comprehensive understanding of the quality of the learning process and the impact of graduates in the workforce.
  • Industry Partner Discussion Session: This session involved partner companies to evaluate the relevance of the curriculum to current industry needs.

During the student interview session, the assessors explored their experiences related to the learning process, available facilities, and involvement in research and community service projects. Meanwhile, interviews with alumni and industry partners provided valuable insights into the competitiveness of graduates from the Informatics Undergraduate Program.

Looking ahead, the Informatics Undergraduate Program aims to achieve a higher accreditation level to strengthen Universitas Sugeng Hartono’s vision of becoming an internationally recognized university by 2028. Such accreditation not only validates the program’s academic quality but also reinforces public trust in the graduates’ ability to compete globally.

In his closing remarks, the Rector of Universitas Sugeng Hartono, Assoc. Prof. Jacob F. N. Dethan, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his optimism. “We sincerely thank the assessors for their valuable input. Moving forward, the results of this assessment will serve as a foundation for us to continuously improve and enhance the quality of our education. This way, Universitas Sugeng Hartono can continue producing a young generation that is well-prepared to face the future technological revolution,” he stated.
