Brief Profile of Astrid Widayani, S.S., S.E., M.B.A. :
Born November 9, 1986) is an Indonesian lecturer, edupreneur, and politician Currently, she serves as:
- Vice Mayor (Deputy Mayor) of Surakarta, set to assume office on February 10, 2025, for the 2024–2029 period
- Chancellor (Rector) of Universitas Surakarta for the 2023–2027 term
Astrid earned a Bachelor in Economics (S.E.) from Universitas Surakarta in 2007, followed by a Bachelor in Literature (S.S.) from Universitas Diponegoro in 2009, and an M.B.A. in Strategic Management from Universitas Gadjah Mada. She’s also pursuing doctoral studies in business transformation and entrepreneurship at Business School Lausanne, Switzerland.
She is the founder of the Youth Reinforcement Program (YRP)—a youth development initiative focused on building soft skills, digital literacy, and English proficiency. Astrid has held leadership roles within HIPMI Surakarta, and she is deeply involved in various community, entrepreneurship, and education-focused organizations.

During the Technovation Seminar Exhibition held on July 18, 2024, Astrid Widayani encouraged USH students to develop their creativity, innovation, and digital skills to meet the demands of the modern era. She toured student booths featuring digital systems, UI/UX design, and nutrition-based products, expressing admiration for the projects displayed. She also emphasized potential collaboration with the city government via the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) - Emphasizing Government–University Synergy
She views student research and innovation as important opportunities to support the city’s development agenda. Through collaboration with BRIDA Solo, she expressed readiness to align promising student projects with Surakarta’s broader developmental needs - Championing Adaptable, Confident Youth
Astrid stressed that creativity alone isn’t enough: students must also hone communication and presentation skills, as confidence in sharing ideas is key to making their work impactful. Her message called for youth who are adaptive, creative, and ready for global challenges
