The student health organization UKM Kesehatan Saras Panacea at ITSK Sugeng Hartono organized a meaningful event combining KSR (Volunteer Corps) socialization and a blood donation drive. This activity took place on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the ITSK Sugeng Hartono Auditorium.
Raising Awareness Through KSR Socialization
Carrying the theme “Fostering Volunteer Spirit and Humanitarian Values Among Students,” the KSR session was led by Mr. Aris Diyanto, Head of Disaster Management at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Sukoharjo. The main goal of this socialization was to enhance students’ understanding of the core principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Mr. Aris emphasized how students can contribute to humanitarian efforts and emergency response as part of their social and national responsibility. Furthermore, the session aimed to develop a generation of student volunteers who are compassionate, disaster-aware, and ready to serve the community.
He also delivered material covering the history of PMI, the objectives and benefits of joining KSR, and the requirements to become a KSR member, including the minimum number of active participants needed. Students learned about the types of humanitarian and disaster relief activities they could participate in after becoming a KSR volunteer.

Celebrating World Blood Donor Day with a Blood Donation Drive
In addition to the KSR session, the event featured a blood donation campaign in collaboration with PMI Sukoharjo to commemorate World Blood Donor Day (June 14). The blood drive was open to the public, allowing anyone who met the health requirements to participate.
To be eligible, donors had to meet specific criteria, including being at least 17 years old, in good health, weighing a minimum of 45 kg, having normal blood pressure, and not currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or menstruating. Donors also needed to have a normal hemoglobin level and eat beforehand.
Out of 31 registrants, 25 participants successfully passed the health screening and donated blood.

Building a Culture of Care and Social Responsibility
Through this initiative, UKM Kesehatan Saras Panacea hoped to instill a sense of volunteerism and empathy in the student body. At the same time, the activity promoted awareness of the life-saving importance of blood donation.

Ultimately, this event served as a platform to encourage students and the broader community to take part in impactful social initiatives. ITSK Sugeng Hartono remains committed to supporting humanitarian causes and promoting health-conscious, socially responsible behavior on campus.
