Sukoharjo, July 18, 2025 – The Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, Mrs. Astrid Widayani, S.S., S.E., M.B.A., delivered a strong motivational message to the students of Universitas Sugeng Hartono, encouraging them to keep developing innovation, creativity, and digital skills in order to meet the demands of the times. She shared this message while attending the Technovation Seminar Exhibition held at the Universitas Sugeng Hartono Building on Friday (July 18, 2025).

The event was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Sugeng Hartono, Assoc. Prof. Jacob F. N. Dethan, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., who emphasized in his speech the importance of strengthening digital and collaborative competencies to produce graduates who are ready to face the technology- and creativity-based industrial revolution.

During the seminar, Mrs. Astrid delivered an inspiring presentation and actively engaged with students by visiting various project booths from different study programs. She praised the diverse range of student works, highlighting innovations in digital technology, UI/UX design, and nutrition products.

“Today I visited Universitas Sugeng Hartono, a campus that is also part of the programs I support. I want to inspire these young students to keep creating, improving their digital and business skills, and developing new innovations,” said Mrs. Astrid.

She also stressed the importance of communication skills and the courage of the younger generation in facing global challenges.
“There are already many great products. Now it’s a matter of how confident they are in presenting them. Students must be adaptive, creative, and innovative,” she added.

Potential Student Innovations to Align with City Needs, Says Mrs. Astrid
During her visit, Mrs. Astrid also opened the door for collaboration between the Surakarta City Government and Universitas Sugeng Hartono through the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA). She noted that many student research projects have great potential to align with the development needs of the city.

Vice Rector of Universitas Sugeng Hartono, Fitria Hayu Palupi, S.ST., M.Kes., presented a certificate and souvenir to the Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, Astrid Widayani, as a token of appreciation for her participation and the inspiration she shared during the Technovation Seminar.
“Some of these projects are promising and can be further developed. BRIDA Solo is ready to establish a link and match with the university, including Universitas Sugeng Hartono,” she stated.
Vice Rector Highlights Technovation Seminar as a Practical Evaluation Approach
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Universitas Sugeng Hartono, Mrs. Fitria Hayu Palupi, S.ST., M.Kes., explained that the Technovation Seminar was part of the final semester assessment structured as an exhibition, in line with the university’s project-based learning system.

“Students created products based on their field of study and then showcased them. From the Nutrition Program, there were food products based on nutritional science; Informatics students developed systems and applications; while the Digital Business students presented UI/UX prototypes,” she explained.
She explained that the event included students from semesters two to six across all study programs. “We invited the Deputy Mayor because we plan to build future collaborations with the Surakarta City Government. We also hope her presence will inspire students to confidently innovate in this digital era,” she said.
Mrs. Fitria hopes that the students’ work will not only end within the walls of the exhibition but will also be developed further and provide real benefits to the community. “Our hope is that these innovations can truly be implemented and bring positive impact to society,” she concluded.
