Sukoharjo, January 24, 2025 – Universitas Sugeng Hartono (USH) continues to demonstrate its commitment to education and innovation in food technology by hosting a Mini Workshop and Open House themed “Biotechnology for Functional Food and Wellness.” The event is organized by the Undergraduate Food Technology Program and will welcome students from SMA Kristen Pelita Nusantara and SMA N 8 Surakarta.
Introducing Food Biotechnology to Future Innovators
The main objective of this event is to introduce high school students to the world of food biotechnology while expanding their understanding of how functional food innovations can contribute to public health and well-being.
Joshua Christmas Natanael Luwidharto, S.T.P., M.Sc., Head of the Undergraduate Food Technology Program, emphasized that the event is part of USH’s broader effort to support the development of food science and technology in Indonesia.
“We aim to provide students with hands-on experience on how biotechnology can be applied in food processing to enhance health benefits. This is also an opportunity for them to get to know the academic environment at Universitas Sugeng Hartono,” he explained.
Workshop and Open House Highlights
Throughout the workshop, participants will receive both theoretical knowledge and practical training in biotechnology-based food technology. The sessions will cover:
- Fermentation techniques
- Development of functional food products
- Health impacts of biotechnology in food
The Open House segment will allow students to explore USH’s modern laboratory facilities, engage in discussions with faculty members and current students, and learn more about the curriculum and opportunities offered by the Food Technology Program.
